Magnolia stellata Royal Star

FEATURES
"Royal Star" is a popular slow growing magnolia cultivar, producing masses of large mildly fragrant snowy-white, star shaped flowers. Flowers appear before its leaves emerge.

HEIGHT X WIDTH
6 metres x 5 metres.

SHAPE
Oval and upright when young spreading with age.

FOLIAGE
New leaves emerge with a bronze tint and turn a dark shiny green. Autumn leaf colors are yellow to copper. Brown fruit opens to expose an orange red seed in early autumn.

FLOWERS
Large star-shaped, snowy-white flowers in late winter to early spring.

COMMENTS
Spectacular feature tree, prefers full sun but will tolerate a partially shady location, shelter from wind, so that the flowers are not damaged.

TREE CARE
Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
