Acer saccharum Sugar Maple

FEATURES
This wonderful specimen tree known as the "Sugar Maple", is a large spreading tree with handsome foliage at all stages. The foliage makes a striking Autumn display with reds oranges and golds.

HEIGHT X WIDTH
20 metres x 10 metres.

SHAPE
Upright oval, becoming rounded with maturity.

FOLIAGE
Green, broad, lobed leaves that colour brilliantly in Autumn.

FLOWERS
The yellow-green flowers hang in small panicles, produced before the leaves in early Spring, with the seeds maturing in early Summer.

COMMENTS
The Sugar Maple is the king of showy Autumn foliage. Suitable for large gardens, parks or street plantings. It can be a slower growing variety.

TREE CARE
Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
