FEATURES
A hardy deciduous tree with large shiny deep purple foliage, turning red-gold and coppery-bronze tones in Autumn. Originating as a sport from Crimson King, it differs in size, growing to a height of 8 metres and being more narrow making it a more compact conical shape.

FOLIAGE
Large, shiny, deep purple leaves in Summer, turning to orange, golds and copper tones in Autumn.

COMMENTS
Tolerant of poor soils and harsh environmental conditions, but should be grown where vigorous surface roots will not be a problem. Prefers acid soil. An attractive tree for foliage variation.

TREE CARE
Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
